We are working on Blue Heron and King Fisher trails this Saturday morning from 9 am to 1 pm. The work will be routine maintenance, mostly de-berming/clearing drainage areas, removing select roots, cutting back encroaching brush, and fixing any other issues we come across.

If you are pretty sure you are coming out please email us here and let us know so we can bring the right number of tools.

If the trails are open, you can ride out, work, then continue your ride.

The weather forecast is looking cool with a drizzle / light rain.

We are having a Trail Work Day on Bald Eagle Trail Saturday, June 27, 2015.

We'll be meeting at the Lewiston Rd. Trail head at 8:30 and getting started soon thereafter. Come out any time during the day if you can't in the morning.

As you may know, there is a new bridge under construction on Bald Eagle. The framing is complete and it is now time for the decking. The lumber will be delivered the morning of the work day (Saturday, June 27) and will need to be carried in from the Lewiston Street Trail Head. How quickly this gets done depends on the number of volunteers that come out. We'll be carrying lumber in and going back for more until it is all at the work site. We are counting on a large turnout of folks to help lighten the work load and speed the work.

There will also be bridge construction going on while the wood is being moved. If we get enough people turn out, we will also send work crews out to do some Trail Maintenance.

We also can use some help with signing people in and out, taking pictures throughout the day and If you're so inclined create a report of the days activities for the GFTS site, FaceBook and email list. It's not all heavy work and you can rotate through different tasks during the day if desired.

Please mark your Calendars for June 27th, 2015 8:30 AM Lewiston Trail Head.

Reedy Fork and Blue Heron trail workday.

What: Work Day - Blue Heron and Reedy Fork trails

When: Saturday 5/30/15 9am-1pm

Where: Church Street trailheads for both trails.

On Blue Heron we will be cutting back the brush that is grown in on the first power line section from Church St.. We also will be hiking a little further in to clear the sight line at the 3 plank bridge to allow better visibility of oncoming traffic. There is also some clearing to do on the section of Reedy Fork between Church St. and Plainfield Rd.. Trimming back the foliage that is growing into the trail.

We have weedeaters and a blower. That should be plenty for what we will be doing on the power line. The rest of the work will be done with loppers and pruning shears. If you have some that you would like to bring, please do.

Bring work gloves, wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing. Safety glasses are recommended with the kind of work we are doing.

Water and a snack or two is always a good idea.

CANCELED: BALD EAGLE WORKDAY 2/28/2015.
