We are having a work day next Saturday 1/24/2015 and need to get a commitment from folks that they will make it. The reason is, we are hoping to have enough folks to support work on two different trails on the same day. We need 5-10 folks committed to determine if we will be able to do this.

The two projects are the new (very cool) bridge build on Bald Eagle and cutting though a new section of Blue Heron that will bypass the little power line climb as you exit the bermed section heading towards Yanceyville Rd.

It's looking like real nice weather for working in the woods. A solid headcount also lets us figure out how many tools we need to bring.

It is not a problem at all if we get more folks than we are looking for, there is plenty of work to keep everybody busy.

We hope you will join us.

If you are planning on coming out please reply to this post below or this link on www.biketriad.com.

Volunteers Needed !

Work Day Information

When: 05/24/14

Where: Owls Roost Trail

Our last work day was cut short by heavy rains in the afternoon. We need to put the finishing touches on the new sections we just built near the new bridge. Most of the heavy cutting is completed.

The work site is at the far end of the trail at the greenway from Bur-mill park. It's best if you ride your bike from Bur-mill down the greenway to the far end of the trail.   If you are not sure how to get to the work site.Someone will be at the  Bur-mill Club Wildlife Ed. Center at 8:00 am until 8:30 am.

Bring your work gloves.

We will Start at 8:30am until 4:00pm. Feel free to stop by anytime and help even if it's for just an hour.

Use the Contact link  to let use know you are volunteering for this event or have questions.

Blue Heron Trail

Weed Trimming Work Day 05-16-14

This Friday (May 16) we are giving Blue Heron its first trim of the year. When we've done this in the past we had a 3 person team with 2 weedeaters, a blower, and a rake. We started From Yanceyville and worked our way in. If we could have two teams working in from both ends we could get it done that much quicker.
If you have a couple hours free, come on out. If you have a weedeater, blower and/or a rake, bring it along. If you don't have equipment and still would like to help, come on out. Bring some gloves and water, maybe a snack.

We'll be starting at 08:00 from Yanceyville and heading towards Church St.. There are currently three of us, which makes a good size crew. If we get a few more volunteers we could start at Church and head toward Yanceyville as well and knock this out even quicker.

Weather is looking pretty nice for Friday, c'mon out and join us!

The Country Park manager has requested that we close the section of the trail that goes up the hill by the jailhouse and down the field. Today we got a reroute rough cut in that still enables us to have a loop despite this closing.

I'm making a few changes and although I'm waiting to hear from the city to confirm please plan on Saturday April 24th as our next workday. We are going to finish some of Blue Heron including the bridge that I set the posts for on the past two days.

Since both our Feb and March workdays were cancelled due to the weather we have a lot that we want to get done before it gets hot!

I have some follow-up to do with Zack on more of the CP upgrades but he will be looking for some helping hands for those who need to help out on a weekday instead of a weekend.

Reminder we need your help on Saturday the 24th. You can help anytime between 8:30AM - 4:00PM location will be on Blue Heron.

Directions to start will be provided later in the week. Mark your calendar!

Update 4/22/10 -

We will be meeting on Bobwhite Lane.

To get there take Church Street North out of town. Cross the lake and pass the trailheads for BH & RF once you are at the top of the hill take the first right hand turn on Archergate road.

Then turn right on Bobwhite Lane, we will meet at the end of the cul du sac on Bobwhite. Please park on the far edge of the road before the cul du sac but not in the cul du sac. (Since the dump truck will need to be able to turn around in the cul du sac). Also please park on the pavement and not the shoulder. Thanks

CP workday this Sunday March 7

Meet at Safety Town at 12:00 and plan on walking in.
No vehicles are allowed in the park on weekends and we can't park in the cemetary.

If you can't make it at 12:00 come when you can.
Go to the Jailhouse and walk/ride down through the grassy field and into the woods. You'll see us on the left.

Plans right now are to rock armor 3 spots.
If more than just a few folks show we'll reroute a small section, cut some drains and do some deberming.

Basic maintenance.

What to bring:
Water & snack
Gloves
Shovel/rake/dirt moving tool if you can

Hope to see you Sunday.
