Fundraiser for Trailhead Parking - Doggett Rd
January 30, 2025 | No Comments

Biking and hiking are nature's therapy sessions!

Riding with the wind in my hair, the dirt kicking up, and navigating the next rock garden is just FUN!! But how can you enjoy the pleasure of this experience when you can't access your trail with your bike-loaded vehicle?

The Piedmont Fat Tire Society needs your help to fund a new trailhead parking lot. The parking lot will provide much-needed access to Northern Greensboro's newest trails. The new parking lot will be at the end of Swan Song Trail, on Doggett Road. The new lot will hold 26 vehicles + 2 handicapped spots. This lot will provide additional parking along the watershed trail route and will provide a nice parking lot for future connectivity to Bryan Park North, which is planned to be connected to watershed trails and have additional trails in the park.

This lot will also be a convenient location for road-riding groups to start rides, allowing them to begin their ride “out of town” and avoid heavier traffic. It will also provide a place to relax and socialize with friends after a bike ride or hike.

At the intersection of Kingfisher and Blue Heron trails, the nearest lot to this location is routinely overrun with vehicles, forcing cyclists and hikers to ride/hike elsewhere or dangerously park alongside Yanceyville Road. Many motorists park alongside the road where this lot is planned, which is unsafe and not approved by DOT.

Help us reach our funding goal of 75,000 to build a new lot!
